Brunswick, Maryland was named by the B&O
Railroad company in 1890 because its workers, who
resided in town were from Brunswick, Germany |
Dark clouds gather just beyond the mountains surrounding Mont Alto, PA, home of Amy Dingle, my friend and APO brother from the College of William and Mary. Thunder cracks, lightning strikes, and rain pours just as I secure my bike and enter the cream colored house. Her brother Jeff warns me to hurry in the shower as the stormy onslaught comes in full force. Today Jeff has graduated sixth grade and is going on to middle school next fall. I am determined to wash the road stench off so I can hug everybody hello.
The Dingle family of Mont Alto, PA |
Mrs. Dingle and Amy's sister Robin prepare a sumptuous feast of sloppy joes, tuna melts and iced tea. I was delighted. Anything beats trail mix meals, packet sealed tuna and sun warmed water, but nothing beats good food and great friends after a couple days on the road. After dinner Amy and I catch up on old times, have dessert at Twin Kiss ice cream shop, and finally watch the sun come back out and chase the storm away.
I wonder if this is how Frodo felt when he finally arrived and awoke to find himself in Rivendell, and the House of Elrond.
